Salil brings over 12 years of growth equity investing, strategy and operations experience as an active advisor to Five Elms. Most recently he was with Old Lane, a $4B investment firm, both before and after its sale to Citigroup for $800 million. While at Old Lane, he led private equity investments in financial services, technology, and business services companies. Salil also assisted Citigroup’s senior leadership in redefining its alternative investment strategy and restructuring portfolios of distressed assets.
Previously, Salil was a member of the investment team at TH Lee Putnam Ventures, a $1.1 billion top decile growth equity firm sponsored by Thomas H. Lee Partners and Putnam Investments. While there, he invested in and actively managed a variety of businesses within on-line marketing, transaction processing, software development, and media. Prior to Harvard Business School, he was trained in investing at General Atlantic, a top tier global growth equity firm. Salil started his career at The Boston Consulting Group in New York. Salil holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is a member of the Indian American Council, the US - India Business Council, and the American India Foundation.
